The combination of this year’s Presidency of the European Union and EuroBiO 2008 will empower those who understand the challenges to design the changes needed for the 21st century. You understand. You design the change.
Europe cannot achieve its aspiration in life science. Its science is eroded, business is tarnished, funding is sparse, and knowledge is denied or ignored.
- Axe the Common Agricultural Policy and spend €50 billion a year instead on R&D
- Only the weakness of the dollar prevents US entities owning European biotechnology
- Less than 10% of pharma industry spending on R&D is actually innovative
- Biofuels are just a green window-dressing
For these and other issues, a life sciences community with a strong voice is an imperative for Europe. EuroBiO 2008 has been designed to give voice to the grassroots of science and business.
